Back in the glory days, My skating(rollerblading) was good enough to draw the attention of K2 sports, the company whose skates I rode. I was flowed products, and produced content for them for some time, and enjoyed doing so. I kept a loose relationship with the team manager and he called upon me to do a batch of 30-second product spots for their new line of fitness skates. I was glad to help, and think we managed some interesting and creative stuff.

Here’s one of the spots- for the “Alexis” skate:

The production work consisted of a 2-day exterior shoot with skaters in Santa Monica & Venice, as well as 3 days worth of tabletop/Interiors on a mini-stage & turntable setup I built in my apartment over a long weekend. Post was a standard workflow, & lasted about two weeks.

A week before I was to head back to LA to start post-production on the Minspeak Doc., Pittsburgh got dumped on… The snowfall accumulation was the 3rd-largest in city history, and my friends and I knew we needed to take advantage of it. Besides just getting some great shots for the film, we shoveled-hiked-skied-snowboarded around town, from the hills of Oakland to the slopes of Mount Washington. The Edit received an overwhelmingly positive response, more than one-hundred thousand views…and a few local magazines, blogs, and news channels did features on it. Links below- and enjoy!

Andrew McIntyre and myself made the 7+ hour drive to film Chris Klein, a Minspeak user who lives by himself in Holland, Mich. Good times were had getting to know Chris, how he lives, and how the system has helped him be his own man. I’m leaving a few stills and raw-footage from the weekend.

Thanks to Tim Parker for getting me a website up and running. He has been a big help with Kendama USA as well, and is a fellow rollerblader. I’m going to throw up some video-stills from the Minspeak Documentary I’m currently shooting. These are just the exteriors, and B-roll. First interview is this weekend in Holland, Michigan.
